War Museum Penang: memory lane back to World War II

When I was still a teen, some friends told me that the fortress up at Batu Maung Hill is haunted. And some of them ran into Japanese marching ghosts when they explored the fortress at night.
!!! o.0 !!!
Years later, the government turned this historical fortress into a museum - War Museum. The tragedy of the World War II is vividly depicted in the relics. This fortress was constructed by the British in anticipation of an amphibious invasion by the Japanese that never materialised.
I was so bored during one of the weekends, and so I suggested to my baby that we go find some excitement at the 'haunted fortress' nearby. That's of course the War Museum. Driving up the winding road towards the top of the hill. Suprisingly the view from the fortress overseeing the sea is spectacular.

You'll find the map of the War Museum at the entrance.

Malaysia Border Check Point. Not Malaya??

Now follow my trail.

First go to the counter and buy ticket. Malaysian RM15 per person, Foreigner RM30 per person.

The ammunition storage. Located 9 metres underground with thick stonewall to enable it to withstand enemy's fire.

The place where Japanese chopped off people's heads..

Japan 'directed sex slavery'. Ugly truth that the Japanese trying to wipe away from their history.

The Princess Wedding Diaries - 14th Feb 2011
Published at 01:46 in My Wedding Diaries 。公主嫁到
First page of wedding diaries... keeping track of the "royal wedding" as time goes by....
We signed up our wedding package with Aspial Wedding. It was all by a quirk of fate, without doing any comparison with any other bridal galleries, we paid for the package, exactly 1 week after the proposal. There are things that you cannot judge by $$$, that's the right feeling of doing something, especially when it's something related to artistic. That's me! If the feeling is right, and you're afford to pay, that's God's grace to save your energy and time for other things. =)
Some of my friends and colleagues definitely would not agree with the way I deal with the wedding package... I'm not surprised, because I kinda always surprise people with things I do. Perhaps I'm odd to them. Hahah.. However I think the outcome that I achieve without doing much comparison to get something at most of the time turned out to be fruitful too. That's why I think I didn't lose anything, most importantly, priceless TIME and PETROL. Another thing is, minimize chances of confusing ourselves, also minimizing arguments. That's quite true for some couples.
Friends around were very helpful in giving advise in venue booking and selection. In fact, I think they're even more concerned than me. Almost everyone of them who's married told the same story - book AS EARLY AS 1 YEAR BEFORE wedding date. Anyhow the venue has been fixed, now only pending other stuffs such as food tasting, food selection.
13th Feb (yesterday) we went for gown selection, 3 hours and finally done. 1 white, 1 ivory, 1 champagne, 1 yellow, 1 peach, 1 red and 1 green. Sounds a bit odd the colors? But I looked good in them, so I picked those. Photography session rescheduled again... because we both kind of having heavy business trips recently. Luckily still have time to celebrate Valentine's today before he's off to business trip again tomorrow..
Happy Valentine's Day!

Hong Kong: THE PEAK, way up to the luxurious hill
Published at 00:15 in * Island chic 。岛游记, * On vacation 。公主游记, **Hong Kong 。香港, ^ Travel 。我们爱旅行, EOS 500D, Lumix FS3
I personally think that going up to THE PEAK is an excitement that you should try if you're travelling to Hong Kong.
The venerable Peak Tram is, as most passengers agree, the only way to truly experience the beauty of Hong Kong's natural wonders. Tens of millions of people from every corner of the globe have taken the ride, which affords a uniquely spectacular perspective of the city.
Located also at the Garden Road Peak Tram Lower Terminus is The Peak Tram Historical Gallery. Open in September, 2007, The Peak Tram Historical Gallery is like a time tunnel with more than 200 memorabilia exhibited. Divided into 15 theme sections, it will take you back to Hong Kong in the 19th and 21st century. The first day of commercial operation on May 30th, 1888, attracted 600 passengers.
At the Peak Tram Terminal. Mom-in-law, mom, myself and grandma.

At the Peak Tram Lower Terminus, junction of Garden Road at Central.

You can check the special combo tickets at the ticketing counter. If you plan to visit Madame Tussaud's wax museum (of course you don't want to miss it), get a 2 in 1 or 3 in 1 combo package. View the ticket price here.

The Peak Tram Historical Gallery.
Location: Peak Tram Lower Terminus
Opening Hours: 7 am to 12 midnight (Mon - Sun & Public Holidays)
Admission: Free for Peak Tram passengers at Lower Terminus
It was opened in September 2007, taking you through a time tunnel of 120 years with more than 200 memorabilia exhibited. You'll see the heritage Hong Kong in the 19th and 20th century.

The queue is always long.... take time to enjoy the gallery while waiting for your turn to get into the tram.

Peak Tram arriving.

The interior of Peak Tram.

The track gradient is from 4 degrees to 27 degrees. Quite steep. So remember to give way to the elderly.

I actually prefer to stand than to sit. If you go up before the sunset, you'll have the chance to enjoy nice scenery of Hong Kong.

Wonderful colors at the upper terminus when you disembark from the tram.

Here! Reaching the Peak Tower.

The first spot you'll come to is Peak Market. A place to get nice souvenirs.

Like this. ^.^ The symbolic street name keychain/magnet.

I love Hong Kong! Live it Love it~
