Thai cuisine at Chilli Corner

I seldom blog about food, but this is one nice restaurant that I think I should recommend - Chilli Corner. I'm not sure whether many has tried the cuisine before, but among my friends, I'm the first one.

It is located at Nagore Place, the lane just beside New World Park. Nagore Place is famouse for steamboat by now I guess, because majority of the eating shops there are serving steamboat buffet, especially this row of shops.

Chilli Corner is located at the quieter lane of Nagore place, and no doubt its appearance is not attractive compared to the steamboat eat-ins. Before you even see this, you might have walked into one of the steamboat restaurants due to the attractive food banners.

See? Told you...

This place is cozy and makes me feel like eating in my grandma's old house. And the boss is so fond of fishing, so you'll find the interior is decorated with his fishing photos, and even fishing hooks on the wall.

And this!! Some fish head skeleton collection of the boss. He really must have go fish hunting a lot.

We ordered only 3 dishes because there was only two of us. Food is served only when all the dishes are ready, and I like it that way.

First dish - Deep fried kangkung. I've tried quite a lot of Thai food but I've never taste any deep fried kangkung as crunchy as this one! Half an hour later it is still so crunchy! Amazing... And how much does it costs? RM7 ONLY!

Next is the Seafood Tomyam. Very big portion for a serving of 2. They gave 4 prawns for 2 pax...include fish and sotong. Dish served at RM20.

Fish meat used is shark's meat, while the squid is actually octopus!

Last dish - Green curry chicken. Ooo...I like it this the best!! Not too spicy nor too lemak. And the meat is soft and tender. Small dish at RM12.

Take a glance at the shop...just like having dinner at grandma's place. Now this is the feel of enjoying food inside a UNESCO World Heritage building. The sense of heritage... =)

Though it's raining out there, we still managed to enjoy a warm and fulfilling Thai style dinner. Recognize this. I'll come back again!! More deep fried kangkung for me next time!~

What is your blog's readability?

Princess Cheryl's thought of the day:- Starwalk tomorrow! And my future MD invited me to support him in his fishing competition at the seashore behind Queensbay Mall tomorrow morning after the Starwalk. Cool...my first time to 'join' a fishing competition. Lunch on him...hehehe....

Found this interesting BLOG READABILITY TEST thingy from Criticsrant.com.

Can you read my blog and understand what I'm talking about all the while?

If yes, then CONGRATULATIONS! You're a GENIUS!!

This is Kenny Sia's blog readability...Elementary School???!!!

Erm...Malaysia's top blog readability is at elementary school level??!! So should it be Elementary school better or Genius better?? *Confused* However, I think this test is only applicable for English written websites, because I did a little test on the Chinese written websites, and all having the same GENIUS category.

Try yours. =)

I'm relieved...for at least 2 weeks

The QIC pre-local final is over!!! YES~YES~YES~

IT'S FINALLY OVER…

I was having nightmare yesterday night mainly because I read through all the slides for one last time before I went to bed. And the whole night I could see pareto charts, fish bone diagrams, Gantt chart, process map, machines…. terrible!! I nearly forget to wake up this morning....

Although our team got the overall positive feedbacks from the judges, I still think that my presentation sucks. All because of the slide show was not the latest version which I've amended last night, something missing there...so I was a little messy to do the twist and turn on the spot. Haiz…but I just couldn't understand why the judges did not notice that...hehehee...

Now that that our faces are everywhere in the walkway, I can see me welcoming myself every morning when I clock in. Being a 'celebrity' for the very first time, I can start to imagine how's the feeling of seeing our own posters down the street. By the way, can you spot me?

One...

...and two.

Counting down to another 1 month before the real QIC local finals, then off we go to Siam Reap for the Regional Semi-finals!! ...but...can I win?

Little gift for mommy's girl...

How much do you know about the acronym V.I.P.??

Yes, "VERY IMPORTANT PERSON". Indeed, the "P" is more than just another "PERSON"...

My mommy was so excited when she found this -- "VERY IMPORTANT PRINCESS"~ during our shopping back in the last two weeks. Then she insisted to buy this cosmetic bag for me.

So, okay mommy, I'll bring along this lovely cosmetic bag when I go for business trip.

Homemade roasted pork and the spokesperson... or the indonesian maid??!?!

Disclaimer: This is not a halal post...

Nothing to do during the long weekend due to Hari Raya Haji and also the shutdown, we transformed to 'zhu yok weng' (猪肉荣) and cooked this lol... Can't believe it? Well, you got to!! Maybe we should just set up our own stall and sell roasted pork rice if the economy keeps on getting worse and if we lost our job... Ok, TOUCH WOOD!!!

It was all so perfect...the taste...the appearance...and the perfect spokesperson I thought... But...I admit I hired to wrong person to sell my dish lar...$@$#%&%^$#

WHY?? He was too damn into thisssssss....until he ruined my ad!!
AND OMFG...THAT'S MY BAG!!! What the heck...

This is only for savory pleasure, at the moment. Anyone wanna buy our recipe please contact me. =) And please just forget about our spokesperson...

One last cry

My world was
showered with love
when you said
you would never
let go of these hands
You said
you would
always be the light
that guides me through the dark
and that you would
always be my sun
when I shivered in the snow
You were my angel
when I lost my way
you gave me hope
but then you took it away
My dreams are broken
like a shattering glass
And the pain
if you could feel
is more than skin deep
Now I hear
wedding bells ringing
but not my hands
you're holding
I had my last cry
and leave stories behind
for I'll learn
to stop living in a lie
So just let me
have my one last cry
and wave the memories goodbye

Little surprises

Today I get to know a people's manager from the sentimental side... Never thought that he's that artistic and poetic type of guy, especially when everytime I need to explain things in a logical way to get his agreement and signature for approval.. I was like "WOW" when he told me that he had written 4 books during his schooling days!! But when I asked him whether I have the chance to read any of those, he said, "Learn Dutch first." Can't imagine....HE IS AN AUTHOR??!!

I always have the respect for him, since the day he came to my company. He reminds me a lot of my lecturer, because both of them are Dutch. I'm not good in Dutch, so I'd better brush up my Deutsch a little more since I've been stopping practising Deutsch since I left uni. Just now he sent me a poem in English, which he wrote more than a decade ago. Simple words, but deep thoughts. Yea, that's my type of idol. I always admire people like Jules Verne....but when only I get the chance to read his masterpiece... He wrote a children's detective, I liked detective series so much when I was a kid.

See you

I feel that time
is on my heels
the way it feels
the way I live
is really wrong.
Don't come along
and please forgive.
I'm not the one
able to give
what you deserve
and I know why
So please don't cry
when I'm gone
tomorrow

G.P.

Some thoughts he shared...
"Funny thing about poetry : as a writer you transform into a situation and from this situation you can write."
Maybe it's time for me to start writing my first book. Who said engineers only know how to write technical report?! I can write poem too...but definitely not in Dutch lor. Goede nacht!

QIC...QIC...I wanna go to Marrakech!!

Ish...more to go for the Philips QIC (Quality Improvement Competition)!!! I wanna go to Siam Reap for the Regional Semi-finals and then Marrakech for the World Finals.... I spent the weekend doing data analysis...luckily yesterday still had time to attend our ex-colleague's wedding. No time to update my blogs yet...but I really had a great time in Red Box yesterday!~ Might just upload the videos I guess...or maybe not...because I think somebody's gonna kill me if I do.

Well...I just read Nicole's post on the MOS thingy. If I'm her, I definitely will not post the complaint in my blog, but I'll do it in another weay. I wouldn't want to threaten my life and make my parents or friends worry about me. And although that Mr. Fazli deserves some punishment, but every human for sure had done some mistakes before. Every single dimension has different perception for different people. So it is better to understand WHY before making conclusions. Forgive and forget, and live on. =)

Although many people would not agree with me, or think that I'm a coward, but I always like to see things in a wider view and think of the consequences. That's what engineer's mind is about -- always look a step ahead, and rate the 'cause & effect' and prepare for FMEA and control plan, and for sure, the OCAP (out of control plan).

Christmas is near....and I miss Macau so....

Christmas is just around the corner...in exactly 1 month! And I miss this place like hell... Instituo para os Assuntos Civicos e Municipais (Leal Senado building) of Macau 澳门民政总署. Located just opposite to Senado Square (Largo do Senado).

The 3700m2, Senado square is paved with a wave-patterned mosaic of coloured stones, created by Portuguese experts. From the main road to the church of St. Dominic, the pavement extends to the ruins of St. Paul's, making the heart of the city a pedestrian paradise.

Although it's just a stopby for resting and gathering information on Macau, it indeed was a shelter for me to take a rest in the hot afternoon (hot sun but freezing wind) after walking nonstop from Guia Fort to Leal Senado! From 9am to 4pm NONSTOP, meanwhile carrying a 3kg heavy backpack on my back!!

There is this small little garden very nicely decorated, I felt like just landed in Santa's house...heehee.... You'll never know how warm and comfortable this place can be by just looking at the appearance of the building from outside. It looks like a police station only. Right?

At the staircase of the cathedral in Leal Senado building...

Santa's secret garden?

Certainly this place is a heaven for backpackers who needs a place to rest and reorganize their travel schedule. Even better if we are allowed to overnight here, can save $$$. Hahahah... And oh yeah, the officers at the tourist information desk were very helpful indeed! We asked for directions and bus routes and the bus numbers, all replied with alternative schedules with a smile on the face.

If you're wondering what caused me so tired, enlarge the map below and look at the red lines.... routes that I left my footsteps since I disembarked the ferry.

Early in the morning we've walked through the Air-Raid Shelters of Guia Hill and Guia Fortress, then up to Guia Chapel.

And what made worse was

Oh well, it was really really very windy on that day. Even the "strong monsoon signal" was up! So just imagine how we rambled up the hill in a monsoon warning weather with backpacks on our back...

We climbed up to the hill from here...

....to here.

In younger days, I was always energetic. Now I've grown 3 years older....I might just wait another day for the cable car to be up again... *grin*
