My luxurious stay @ Intercontinental Hotel Singapore

My most recent biz trip to Singapore. A big surprise for me... as I had no idea of where the hotel is and how luxurious it it before I enter the lobby. =) I got the Shophouse room, very Peranakan style. Take a tour through my lens. I didn't bring my DSLR along, just taken with my little Lumix.

Jump around! Jump around! You can even have a party in the room! 2 double beds!

The bathroom. Classic style tiles. And even radio when you're showing or soaking in the bath tub.

Even the bath and shower gels they provide Elemis. Leading brand in U.K. A luxurious one.

And they have pillow menu. What is pillow menu???? You get to choose the type of pillow because they believe that a good night's sleep if very much affected by the pillow that you use. How thoughtful!

Very Chinese style drawers.

The mini bar table. Different from the usual ones we see in a hotel right?

Does it look familiar to you? Yes, this is Bugis Junction. Great location for girls, because it's just right beside the shopping mall.

Lastly the exterior. I arrived very late at night, so only manage to snap the exterior in the next morning.

My opinion, this is a high end corporate hotel. Very satisfied with the hospitality and the concierge services. I arrived very late (almost midnight) and after check-in I was led by the receptionist to my doorsteps. First time that I received such good service out of so many biz trips I had.

MOF の My Izakaya 居酒屋

Thought of the day: I've been a little lazy to update on travelogs lately. But I'm still posting for food review. Feels more like a food blog eh.. Food and travel. For work reason, I travel to Singapore quite often, few times a year maybe. So I started to realize weeks ago, that the most popular posts of my blog are actually related to Singapore!! (How could that be??!) But that's the truth, if you just look to the right on the sidebar, this is my most popular post - Jumbo Seafood @ Clarke Quay, followed by Indulge in the Uniquely Singapore Experience. Looking at the statistics, I really think that not many people blog about Singapore food eh...compare to my hometown Penang. So I should continue to write more on Singapore restaurants I guess. Much easier to compete for the ranking on search. That's why I'm posting again on Singapore today~

I normally go to Bugis area for food, and I discovered MOF の My Izakaya during my first biz trip 2 years back. It is located at the second floor of Bugis Junction. Environment is good, and I notice that many people come here for mini gathering and chit-chats. Despite the reasonable pricing, the quality of the food is also well controlled.

My Izakaya 2

Published below are the food that I had here. Forgot some of the names though..

My Izakaya 9

Hokkaido Gelato Ice Cream, made from fragrant and rich Hokkaido milk, with no chemical, preservatives & colourings additives. Green Tea with hokkaido red bean flavour is a MUST TRY. Yeah~ This one!
My Izakaya 6

Or maybe this. Also nice but I forgot the name. There are loads more variety of flavors.

Jumbo Seafood @ Clarke Quay

Jumbo~ The big name in seafood! Yeah, you gotta try this out if you're planning to have a seafood dinner and at the same time spend a splendid night by the Singapore River.

That was months ago when I was there, during CNY. I was not able to spend th 2 weeks of CNY in Penang, it's always about food food and food during CNY... so we (colleagues on business trip) had our own 'reunion' at Singapore. Of course we need a scrumptious big meal~ See the long list.

IMG_6559

'Lou sang', means an increase in abundance. Here's our big plate of yee sang. Colorful condiments, as cheerful as how CNY should be.

Shark fin soup.

Big prawns.

IMG_6584

I love the apron. It's so damn cute! So now you know what I'm eating. Just look at the apron.

IMG_6592

...crab!! My favorite.

IMG_6588

As big as my palm. No wonder eating crab has become one of the must-do when you visit to Singapore. They're really huge.

IMG_6594

Mantou/steam bun. Dip into the super delicious sauce.

IMG_6603

Yi mein (Chinese egg noodle made from wheat flour). Looks normal but it tastes great. Unexpectedly good. But too bad we're already full when it's served. Eaten too much of the above..

IMG_6608

Last but not least, dessert.

IMG_6621

Jumbo. Find out more - here. Indeed, a happy dinner for our small CNY reunion in Singapore. Let's just temporarily forget about the bill lol.. =)

IMG_6618

You know what, business trips are always great! Don't you think so? That's my favorite place, the romantic yet happening Clarke Quay!

Margarita's @ Dempsey Hill, Singapore

A treat of my favorite Margarita~ I've been to Singapore on business trip a few times but usually I only had dinner at the so-called popular and recommended places like Clarke Quay or Bugis or Orchard area. This time I tried something special - Mexican cuisine.

IMG_6839_1n

That was an after work dinner with one of my favorite group of people, can be considered my best buddies too.. I haven't been meeting up with them (KS and Jeff) for months after they left for Singapore. That's why I really cherish the few meals and little chats had together with them in Singapore. Most important thing... J's treat on Margarita (my fav alcohol). I had ~6 glasses and was not even a little tipsy at the end of the session (surprised that I could actually drink that well??!!).

Very nice and romantic environment at Dempsey Hill. Check this website out on Margarita's. Too bad...baby was not around. Maybe next round, I should bring him to Dempsey Hill again when we make another trip to Singapore.

IMG_6842_1n

I'm no doubt very happy with my 10-20mm lens. With a little feeling and at the right angle, it can also give the 50mm lens blurry effect.

IMG_6860_1n

My pick - Carne Asada - La Campestre Completa Para Tados (Mexican steak), medium cooked.

IMG_6861_1n

IMG_6865_1n

First round of Margarita before J reached. We had a pitcher of Grand Margarita, frozen.

IMG_6868_1n

J said frozen Margarita is a girly pick!! KS, he said you're girly!

IMG_6870_1n

Food arrived! Finally...

IMG_6884_1n

A tableful of good food. I actually love Fajitas very much, though it's very filling. I should say I love it because of the sauce and spices in the cuisine itself.

IMG_6885_1n

IMG_6886_1n

J arrived half an hour late! We finished our frozen Margarita and continued with Margarita on the rock after that whole night.

IMG_6890_1n

Late comer #2 - Jeff.

IMG_6892_1n

So there went our dinner and chats until they closed shop and asked us to leave. (^.") Thank you for the great moments! And I believe the surprise gift delivered to "someone" on Monday was a big surprise indeed.. Haha... Not gonna tell you what, only 4 of us know. Sshhhhh....
