My Hari Merdeka eve

I'm drinking coffee at Ipoh now. Already forgotten when was the last time I really cared about Hari Merdeka. All I know is that every 31st August I need to attend an event in Perak....every year. So my 31st August is about picking a nice gown, enjoying great cuisine, flow of beer, and endless entertainment! I'm a bad Malaysian babe huh...

In order to compensate my feeling of guilt being a Malaysian who loves her country much, I purposely surf the web for this - the every year theme for celebrating Hari Merdeka.

  • 1970 Muhibah dan Perpaduan(Love and Unity)
  • 1971 Masyarakat Progresif(Progressive Society)
  • 1972 Masyarakat Adil(Fair Society)
  • 1973 Masyarakat Berkebudayaan Malaysia(A Society with Malaysian Culture)
  • 1974 Sains dan Teknologi Alat Perpaduan(Science and Technology as Tools of Unity)
  • 1975 Masyarakat Berdikari(A Self-Reliant Society)
  • 1976 Ketahanan Rakyat(Strength of the People)
  • 1977 Bersatu Maju(United and Progresive)
  • 1978 Kebudayaan Sendi Perpaduan(Culture is the Core of Unity)
  • 1979 Bersatu Berdisplin(United and Disciplined)
  • 1980 Berdisplin Berbakti(Discipline and Service)
  • 1981 Berdisplin Berharmoni(Discipline and Harmony)
  • 1982 Berdisplin Giat Maju(Discipline Creates Progress)
  • 1983 Bersama Ke Arah Kemajuan(Together Towards Success)
  • 1984 Amanah Asas Kejayaan(Honesty Brings Success)
  • 1985 Nasionalisme Teras Perpaduan(Nationalism is the Core of Unity)
  • 1986 Bangsa Tegas Negara Teguh(Steadfast Society, Strong Country)
  • 1987 Setia Bersatu Berusaha Maju(Loyally United and Progressively Working)
  • 1988 Bersatu(Unity)
  • 1989 Bersatu(Unity)
  • 1990 Berjaya(Success)
  • 1991 Wawasan 2020(Vision 2020)
  • 1992 Wawasan Asas Kemajuan(Vision is the Basis of Progress)
  • 1993 Bersatu Menuju Wawasan(Together Towards Vision)
  • 1994 Nilai Murni Jayakan Wawasan(Good Values Makes the Vision a Success)
  • 1995 Jatidiri Pengerak Wawasan(Steadfastness Moves the Vision Forward)
  • 1996 Budaya Penentu Kecapaian(Culture Determines Achievements )
  • 1997 Akhlak Mulia Masyarakat Jaya(Good Values Make a Successful Society)
  • 1998 Negara Kita, Tanggungjawab Kita(Our Country, Our Responsibility)
  • 1999 Bersatu Ke Alaf Baru(Together Towards the New Millennium)
  • 2000 Keranamu: MALAYSIA(Because of you: MALAYSIA)
  • 2001 Keranamu: MALAYSIA(Because of you: MALAYSIA)
  • 2002 Keranamu: MALAYSIA(Because of you: MALAYSIA)
  • 2003 Keranamu: MALAYSIA(Because of you: MALAYSIA)
  • 2004 Keranamu: MALAYSIA(Because of you: MALAYSIA)
  • 2005 Keranamu: MALAYSIA(Because of you: MALAYSIA)
  • 2006 Keranamu: MALAYSIA(Because of you: MALAYSIA)
  • 2007 Malaysiaku Gemilang(My Glorious Malaysia)
  • 2008 Perpaduan Teras Kejayaan(Unity Is The Core of Success)

Do you see what I highlighted up there? For consecutive 7 years the government actually maintained the same theme of Keranamu: MALAYSIA! Good things are meant to be well preserved but to me it looks more like everyone was even lazy enough to care about it so just simply gave an excuse to promote patriotism towards our beloved country. Duh~

Anyhow I like the theme of this year - Unity is the core of success. Yes, we want unity for Malaysians, not only talk about unity of certain races. This country is meant for ALL MALAYSIANS so every of us deserves BEING TREATED FAIR AND SQUAREl. Long live MALAYSIA! Long live MALAYSIAN!

I love you so much that I blog meanwhile counting down to your birthday. Happee Birthday Malaysia!~ You're 51!

Princess counting down on her Phuket trip

Princess Cheryl's thought of the day:- I'm still reluctant whether to go for Philips QIC... I nearly forget about it and Noel just reminded me about the closing date tomorrow... Oh great, should I go ahead? If we win, we shall go for the regional competition, and maybe we shall get through for the world final which will be held at Marrakech next year! But what about my other projects??!

33 more days then I'll be canoeing at Phang Nga bay! I can't wait to dip myself in the emerald waters of Phi Phi Island. Everyday I will surely open my blog just to look at "My Travel-o-meter" for self satisfaction. Then I shall go to sleep with a smile, hoping that I'm already hearing "Sawadeeka" when I open my eyes in the morning. Furthermore this trip is very meaningful to me, because I haven't meet up with my great buddy Philip for years!

The last time we hang out together was before X-mas in 2005. We had a great time chit chatting at Knutsford Terrace in a winter cold night. Although I'm not rich but I'm thankful for a blessed life, and I'm blessed with great friends too. My uni research project had gained me very nice friends from Hong Kong and Korea, and Philip was the one who hosted me during my research trip to HK Poly U.

I named our trip as Couples Phuket Getaway as 3 couples will be joining - Ethan+Michelle, Philip+Angela and Steve+Cheryl. It's great that we're gonna meet up at Phuket but flying from different places, 4 depart from Penang while another 2 from Hong Kong. I guess it's gonna be a trip full of love, for we have newly weds and newly engaged couples. And dear bought me a new DSLR as my birthday present because he knows I am a camwhore and I surely need one as a blogger. =D

Right now my mind has already flown half way to James Bond Island~

And oh yea...I'm riding an elephant!

*I'm already asleep and dreaming now*

Rasa Sayang Buffet, anyone?

Princess Cheryl's thought of the day:- I am so stressed out today...due to my Six Sigma Green Belt presentation to the management. Well, today is just a starting point of approaching the management level on the big picture for improvement plans. Every little parameter change is tied to $$$ signs~ Guess what...even the Black Belts were nervous when our VP questioned...that made me shivered... Oh how well can I present in future?!

I'm so damn hungry now... Tea break is over but I'm starving like hell. And I'm trying to torture myself by looking at these photos~ FOOD!!! Gosh... Can I just jump into my laptop screen??!

Event: DF appreciation dinner on Scratches yield loss reduction
Venue: Spice Market, Rasa Sayang Resort

Still remember my previous post on our DF crazy dinner? I owe everyone the food photos...so here they are. *Can someone invent a teleport to transit me to the night so that I can grab some food to stop my hunger?*

Ok I admit that the food photos are not that attractive though, because we were fooling around the whole night and dozens of photos focused on the crazy people instead of food. Food tastes better when you share it with a bunch of party people.

How do you like it so far? Drooling already? Now here's my special made ice-cream coffee. Take note, it's ICE-CREAM COFFEE, not COFFEE ICE-CREAM. As inspired by Winter Warmers' Night Shadow Iced Coffee.

First, you get a scoop of ice-cream. *Hey these looks like boobs...*

Then slowly pour in the half melted ice-cream into your coffee. *Oolala*

Done! Here's my cup of ice-cream coffee with lurve~ *I poured a lot of love into it ok.*

So that's the end of my story on food for today. About the price....erm....you better spare RM150/pax. I'm not sure about the exact charge because our boss was the one who paid the bill....for the consequences of challenging us. Muahahahah...

Say bye bye to puffy face

Princess Cheryl's thought of the day:- Yes!! Anwar got 31,195 votes, Arif Shah, 15,524, Hanafi, 92. Anwar won with a majority of 15,671. Democracy rulez!! That's called people power.

I never really care about my weight, because all the while I'm underweight!!~ But the thing that matters me the most is my.... puffy face! Many people would think that female artiste were likely to undergo surgery in order to make their face smaller.. That's kinda only 50% is true -- because with some effort put in to your daily skin care routine, the outcome is somewhat -- shocking!!
Look at me... I just couldn't believe that my puffy face is gone...

2005/2006 ~puFFy~

2006 ~a little better huh~

2006/2007 ~way to go~

~NOW~

See the difference in 2 years??

Well, it does take time and patience if you wanna be naturally beautiful. I'm so dAmn scAred of surgery stuffs~ Natural is still the best, or else why people prefer organic than chemically treated stuffs right? And I do think you can have a try. No more silly jokes on my puffy face... Hehheheh. But sometimes I still like to show my puffy face. =D

As the saying goes, there's no woman that's born-to-be-ugly, only woman who is lazy. ~世上没有丑女人,只有懒女人。But still... I love this angle of mine the most.... =) Thanks LiYen for the snapshot...

Black sand and crocodiles

Oct 13th, 2007 - It was the first time ever I am surrounded by so many crocodiles! After the wacky ferry ride and bargaining to rent a car, we finally able to move on with our journey. First we thought of paying a visit to Galeria Perdana before we check in to the hotel but it was closed on that day... #%#%@$ Come on! It's suppose to be open also on public holidays!

So we had no choice but to continue our journey to the next destination - Pantai Pasir Hitam (Black Sand Beach). It was already raining at that time but still I insisted to take a look at this famous attraction of Langkawi.

This spectacular beach is streaked with black sand. I just spent a 5 minutes at the beach because the only special attraction here is the black sand.

Yes...nothing but black, soft sand... Do tell mee if you see something else.

Well, a beach sure doesn't look like a beach if there is no bikini babes.... Wuahahaha.. XD Sorry to disappoint you but I can tell you that the sexiest babe you can find there looks like this...in the rain.

It was raining cats and dogs suddenly. We didn't bring any umbrella so I spend the raining moments buying souvenirs from the stalls at the beach.

After the heavy rain, we went to the Taman Buaya Langkawi (Crocodile Farm) to watch crocodile show. Crocs! Amazingly tamed by the crocodile trainers!

This is how a croc might look like when it's resting. Hey croc! You look stupid in that resting post ok. Seriously I mean it. Who would wanna bend like this when you're fully relax.

Ever wonder what would happen if someone accidentally fall into a pool of crocs?!

While waiting for the 2.45pm "man vs crocodile" show let me do some silly pose first...

There are hundreds of crocs in the farm, and according to the info available, this Langkawi Crocodile Farm has one of the largest number of crocodile and alligator species in the world! But out of the hundreds there is a special one...

Now take a closer look.... OMG! It's a retarded crocodile! Pity him... It can't survive on its own but needs intensive care from the keepers as it can't find food on its own. If I'm not mistaken its name is Bujang Lang, and it has a brother name Bujang Kawi, which is the "wrestling superstar" of this farm. There were coins on its back...sponsors from the kind.

Finally the show started. Lots of people surrounded the performance pool.

First of all, the trainer had to wake the lazy croc up.

The lazy crocs were then trying to hide in the water again...

After a while of hitting on the back and splashing water on the crocs, the show started.

It lazily crawled from the pool to the performance ground.

This croc can go for Colgate ads because it brushes its teeth everyday.

And it likes kissing too...

The trainers gave it a full back massage.

Posers....

Ok, here comes the most dangerous stunt... prey's hand in the predator's mouth! Gosh!!

After the show we went for the croc feeding session. You can see how aggressively they fought for their food.

And here are two crocs in a battle....

I left the farm happily with satisfaction... Well of course! I've never gone so close to a crocodile before. Next destination was where we stayed during our vacation there - Mutiara Burau Bay Resort. Oh well, princess had really bad sunburn for sunbathing like that...
