Princess in kitchen ~ How to cook Spaghetti Bolognese & Mushroom Soup

I can't recall when was the last time that I spent my time in the kitchen. Since it's Sunday, I decided to cook princess Cheryl's "chef's special" for dinner!~ I can cook very well - IF you're wondering whether the working females today still know how to fry an egg. My bunch of buddies know it the best, especially friends that have known me since my old-school-days. Once I even spent half a day making sushi and then invited them for the Sushi Party...

Cut it short, let me show you how to cook Spaghetti Bolognese and cream of mushroom soup for a serving of 4. First, let's talk about the ingredients.

For spaghetti bolognese:
Spaghetti, tomato puree or ready mixed pasta sauce, minced beef, chicken sausages, mushroom, garlic, onion, cooking wine, pepper, soy sauce and some herbs.

For cream of mushroom soup:
Campbell's mushroom soup, fresh Japanese mushroom (Shitake) and butter.

I begin with the preparation of raw ingredients. This is Shitake mushroom which I bought from Jusco. It is one of my favourite types of mushroom and I can tell you, the scent is irresisable!!

Shitake - Sounds expensive but the real price is not so expensive lar. Only RM3.99 per packet. If you cant get this, any types of mushroom will do. Try button mushroom.

I need the mushroom for both the pasta sauce and also the soup. In order to get them in chunks, I chopped them into smaller pieces.

Then pour all into the blender.

And blend.

This size is perfect to give a chewy sensation when sipping your mushroom soup.

Next, I separate the mushrooms into 2 portions, one portion to be blended with the beef.

Fresh minced beef is always the better choice but due to availability, I could only get the burger meat...

Put the beef and mushroom into blender.

And blend.

You will get a smooth texture like this afterwards.

Then, proceed to cook the mushroom soup. Pour the other portion of mushroom chunks into boiling water.

Canned food cannot satisfy my taste buds. So I usually modify the canned food into my homemade recipe by adding ingredients.

Pour in the Campbell's soup paste.

After the paste melted, add in a tablespoon of butter.

Then stirrrrrr~ stirrr~

Let it boil, off the gas and close the lid. Soup is ready to serve.

As for cooking the spaghetti, you need to boil water first.

I bought San Remo spaghetti. My favourite brand. Home cooking tastes good when you are satisfied with the raw ingredients.

Dunk in the sticks and let it boil.

Boil until the spaghetti looks something like this. Cooking time depends on the instruction of the brand. This one took around 15 minutes.

CAMWHORE!~ Even cooking also take photo...

After cooked, you need to cool the noodle at once to create springy effect. Leave it under running filterred water. Drain after 2 minutes.

Or you can keep some water with the spaghetti to prevent it from being sticky.

Now, time to cook the sauce. Heat the pan with 2 tablespoon of oil.

Throw in the chopped garlic and onion.

Fry until golden brown.

Then pour in the beef.

Stir fry the beef with garlic and onion.

Until you see the colour change from red to brown. Keep it around 70% cooked so that seasoning can absorp well later.

Pour in the chicken sausages and stir.

Add some cooking wine, pepper and soy sauce for seasoning.

And last but not least, pour in the pasta sauce with herbs.

Stir and let it boil. Can smell the aroma? Meal is ready to serve!!

Here's the finished dish - MY DINNER!!

Are you drooling now?

Chef: Princess Cheryl

Asst. Chef: Steve

P/s: Anyway I'm still not that satisfied with today's cooking because I couldn't get all the ingredients that I wanted. I still have plenty left after dinner. Will reheat in the microwave oven and turn it into.... cheese bake maybe? I love to chew on crunchy noodles~

Ok, my asst. chef was just helping out in the kitchen today... Tell you a secret, he is actually my guru for cooking!! Believe it or not? Hahhaha... He is the one who trained me for cooking Chinese cuisine after I went to uni.
