If you want to try a vintage dining experience in an old hut, this is one of the good places you can try in George Town heritage area. At the junction of Love Lane and Muntri Street, here's where this restaurant is located.
This restaurant is themed with the back to 70's decoration, but serving western cuisine. What a contrast! But that's the blooming of heritage cafe concept going on in George Town after it's being listed as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 2008. In fact, this trend encourages visitors especially Caucasians to dine in around George Town area. A perfect blend. They can enjoy food but indulge in the vintage environment of Penang's olden days. Not all but most Caucasians that I've known of and met still prefer Western dishes than Oriental cuisine if they were to stay at a place for some time. Same as the Asians, no matter how delicious the pasta is, you will definitely miss a bowl of white rice even when you travel to Europe, that's why we ended up eating at Chinese restaurants at times.
These are so much like my late grandmother's collection. Chinese antique collectibles.
A gramophone player. I have quite a number of these gramophone records left by my late grandfather.
You will find a very simple menu, but overall the food is good.
Mushroom Soup + Garlic Bread. Personally I love the mushroom soup very much. It's rich, creamy and savory. Perhaps it's cooked with butter or margarine. Served with a slice of garlic bread. Garnished with black pepper and its signature '50' drawing with cream.
Beef Spaghetti Bolognese. Also comes in with the choice of Chicken. Sprinkled with cheese powder. The gravy is a bit sweet to me, but much better than other places where the gravy gets too watery. No complaint. Worth a try. =)
Fried Beef Spaghetti. You can choose Chicken instead. I found it too salty and oily, so I've fed back to the owner when he inquired for our opinion on the taste. It will be better next time.
This is the junction of Love Lane to Muntri Street, where we missed the turning before I called the owner and confirmed where is Behind 50's exact location. It's already after dinner time so the sky had darkened. How do you like the edited colors of this series of photos?
This is why it's named Behind 50.
Skipped the photos of drinks because I was too busy sipping my Mushroom Soup and forgot about the Honey Lemon drink...
For value meals, you can always try their Set Lunch/Dinner at RM19.90 (12pm - 2pm & 6pm - 9pm). Hi-tea set is also available at RM5.90, starts 2pm - 6pm.

The colour of photo seems too dark for me....
I love the spaghetti there =)
Jazz: No choice... was not ready for photography as I didn't bring my cam. No flash at Around 7.30 - 8pm... You wouldn't want to look at the original photos... These were edited to gain back the lighter colors already, and the only choice is make it appears to be vintage. Spaghetti not bad.
then wat camera u using? ur phone? O.o
if use phone, can snap the photo like tha really not bad d...some more the light there a bit brown n dark...
